Balasore rail station to get facelift
Balasore: The Balasore railway station and several other railway stations of the district are all set to get a face lift within next three months.
The railway authorities promised to undertake several activities that would ensure a noticeable change to these railway stations coming under administrative purview of Kharagpur division under South Eastern Railway.
Such promises were made in a discussion meeting among the people’s representatives and railway authorities here recently.
Union minister of state for chemicals and fertilisers, Srikant Jena, zilla parishad president, Girish Dash, Bhadrak MP, Arjun Sethi, Soro MLA, Surendra Parmanik, Jaleswar MLA, Debi Chand, Jaynarayan Mohanty, and Kharagpur division DRM, Anil Honda participated in the meeting.
Although declared a model station, the Balasore station lacks basic infrastructure and other facilities for the passengers, the people’s representatives rued.
Among others discussed at the meeting were, early construction of a over bridge near Tamulia gate, construction of the second class waiting room, foot over bridge connecting the platform to bus stand, facilities for physically challenged persons and construction of boundary wall near goods shed.
Another demand was made to run trains from Balasore to Bhubaneswar between 11 AM and 4 PM was also made since presently no train runs in the route during the peak hours.
