Cong demands removal of DC, SP of Balangir
Bhubaneswar: The Congress on Monday termed delaying tactics the judicial probe ordered by the state government into Saturday’s violence at Balangir and demanded removal of the district collector and superintendent of police to ensure a fair probe.
The judicial probe was nothing but a delaying tactic as many commissions into various matters were in existence for years, senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh said.
The Rs five lakh compensation announced by the BJD government for the families of the two students killed was of no meaning and they should be given at least Rs 20 lakh each, Singh, leader of opposition in State Assembly, told reporters here.
He also demanded that both the district collector and SP be suspended and shunted out to ensure impartial probe into the violence that rocked Balangir.
