Engineering student gang raped, 2 held

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a second year student of Fashion and Garment Technology in Women’s Polytechnic in Dhenkanal was allegedly gang raped by some youth while she was returning from Vishal Mega Mart in Jayadev Vihar, under Nayapalli police station here on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, the girl after returning from the mall went with her colleague Sambit Mohapatra in a car driven by Sanjay Suhasia who took her to a girls’ hostel in Jayadev Vihar, owned by him.
Later, they took her to Suhasia’s room and raped her.
She also alleged that the youth recorded her nude pictures on a mobile phone and later downloaded them into a laptop.
However, she managed to escape from the clutches of the kidnappers and was noticed by a Good Samaritan Amjad Ali around 7 PM.
After hearing her ordeal he took her to the Nayapalli police station.
The local police later sent her to the Mahila Police station.
Acting on the complaint, police arrested Sambit and Suhasia and his accomplice on Thursday.
Police seized a mobile phone, a laptop and the car.
The victim and the accused have been sent for medical examination.
