Maoists threaten to blow up IDCO towers; target FM

Bhubaneswar: The officials of IDCO and the city police were a panicked lot after getting a letter bearing the name of CPI-Maoists on Monday which threatened to blow up the IDCO Towers and also threatened to target Finance Minister Prafulla Ghadei.

Sources said the letter, unlike threats which mostly arrive by post, this time was delivered by a man to the IDCO diarist around 11 AM on Thursday.

The letter also threatened the IDCO chairman and industry secretary Saurav Garg with dire consequences as IDCO has given land to the relatives of the finance minister at cheap rates.

The corrupt officials of the organization who are facilitating the process will also be punished, it warned.

Soon after receiving the letters, IDCO managing director Srikant Kabi informed this to the home department and the commissionerate police.

A police probe is to find if the letter is authentic or a hoax.

The Leftwing activists, following the announcement of the anti-Maoist operations by Central paramilitary forces, are feeling the heat and making desperate efforts to make their presence felt in the state and enforce their diktat, a senior official said.
