Vedanta-sponsored trainees perform well

Puri: The Vedanta University Project-sponsored trainees, who are pursuing a two-year industrial training certificate course at Sri Industrial Training Centre, Patrapada, Bhubaneswar, have done well in their 1st year term ending examination.
While the average marks scored by these trainees are more than 60 per cent, Sridhar Baral and Rajendra Sahoo have topped the list in the Electrician and Fitter trade, respectively, amongst 126 students in each category.
I am extremely thankful to the Vedanta University Project for giving us the opportunity to pursue such a professional course, Rajendra Sahoo of Chaittana village said.
Sridhar Baral of Kantigorada village, another topper, also expressed his feelings in a similar vein.
Of 38 youth from the project impacted families, 19 have been admitted in the Electrician trade and the rest 19 in the Fitter trade.
They got sponsorship from the Vedanta University Project of Anil Agarwal Foundation for a two-year industrial training course.
The principal of the training centre said that these students are taking part in activities like blood donation and flood relief.
As part of their training programme, the students are also sent on exposure trips to different organisations to gain hands-on job experience. During the last academic term, they visited Hirakud Power Project and the Gopalpur Port.
The Anil Agarwal Foundation is setting up a world class, multidisciplinary University near Puri, providing quality higher education to 1,00,000 students in 95 academic disciplines.
At the same time, community development initiatives in health, education, peripheral development, sports and culture to enrich the life of the people living in the vicinity are being taken up.
