Former BCCI vice-president, secretary of Orissa Cricket Association Bibhuti Bhusan Das passed away
Cuttack: Former BCCI vice-president and secretary of Orissa Cricket Association Bibhuti Bhusan Das passed away after a prolonged illness here on Wednesday at the age of 85, who is survived by wife and two sons.
Former head of Mayurbhanj District Athletic Association, Sri Das was elected as the OCA secretary in 1976 and continued to remain in the same post till 2000. He was also elected as a vice-president of the BCCI in 1988 and remained in the post till 1992. Das was also elected as one of the vice-presidents of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 1988 and remained in the post till 1992. He was also elected as the secretary of Orissa Olympic Association (OOA) in 1984.
Besides heading OCA and OOA, Das was also founder secretary of several other sporting organisation of the State, including Orissa Kabadi Association. During his last tenure as the secretary of OCA, Das took initiative to install floodlights at Barabati Stadium here. OCA secretary Behera expressed his deep condolence over Das’s demise.
