Maoists blow up rail tracks in Odisha district
Bhubaneswar, Feb. 10: Hours after Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that his government would use force to fight the Maoists and restore law and order till they shun the path of violence, the Left wing extremists blew up rail tracks in Sundargarh district early on Wednesday disrupting train services on the Horwah-Mumbai route.
As many as eight wagons of a goods train was derailed under the impact of the blast on both tracks between Bisra and Bhalulata station around 2 am.
This is the second such incident in less than a week time. The Maoists had blasted the rail track between Bhalulata and Jareikela stations on Sunday night.
The Maoists had observed a three-day bandh in the region from Sunday to Tuesday.
The bandh had affected normal life in many parts of Sundargarh as well the southern Odisha districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati.
