VISA Steel chief appeals students to set examples in life
Report by Dipti Ranjan Kanungo; Bhubaneswar (Orissa): Youth icon and 500 crore VISA Steel Company Managing Director Vishal Agarwal, on Wednesday, appealed to the Technocrats, Social Workers, Nursing and Management students to set an example in the society by dint of their innovative and creative work.
“Today students not only need to attend colleges but also need to get quality education to prepare them for facing the world,” he said.
“Currently, a good percentage of the workload is on the shoulders of technocrats in the world but the irony is that there is a dearth of good engineers on the earth,” he said. Agarwal was addressing the 6th annual function of VISWASS Group of Institutions. The annual function VISWASS was organised on Wednesday evening at the auditorium of Ravindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar.
School and Mass Education Minister Mr. Pratap Jena, inaugurated the programme by lighting a traditional lamp and garlanded on the statue of Swami Vivekananda. He also released the February issue of VISWASS’s monthly news letter ‘VISAGE’
The Chief Guest of the evening Dr Damodor Raut, Minister Agriculture, said the kind of training that students get in Orissa in art and craft, games and education is second to none in the country,” “You are fortunate that you are in Orissa and getting quality education here he said.
Addressing the gathering as the Guest of honour, the Vice Chancellor of BPUT, Dr Joytendriya Ku. Satapathy , asked the students of the institution to step out bravely and embrace the world. “You are on the threshold, leaving the comfortable portals of the college and stepping out into the world. India awaits you,” he said.
The other Guest of honour Dr Binayak Rath, Vice –Chancellor of Utkal University, felt that with quality education being imparted to students in Orissa , a time will soon come when Orissa students will be the best choice by the employers .On this occasion Smt. Pratima Gharai, Chairperson, VISWASS Group of Institutions presented Best Social Worker Award-2009 to Mr R.K. Sharma, Rehabilitation officer, VRC, Govt. of India and Best Finance and Youth service Award-2009 to Prof(Dr) Samson Moharana, Director, CDC, Utkal University. Besides, she honoured students with trophies who performed well in academics and in cultural programmes. Member Trusty of VISWASS governing body Dr S.C. Kumar, welcomed the guests while Principals of VISWASS Institutions have presented their annual reports . Nursing College Director, Mr Anthony Mathew, gave the vote of thanks.
After the meeting boys and girls of VISWASS Group of Institutions presented a colourful cultural programme on the occasion. Apart from this, students also presented attractive presentation. On the occasion, principal, staff members of the different Group colleges and eminent personalities were also present. Around 400 students of the school took part with great zeal. The programme was organised based on the patriotic songs and dance, global warming and environment.
