Bhubaneswar: Governor and Chancellor of Universities MC Bhandare on Thursday directed the vice-chancellors of the state universities to make sure that the university and college campuses remained completely ragging-free.
Presiding over a meeting of the vice-chancellors at Raj Bhawan here, he said that ragging or any kind of harassment of juniors or freshers by their seniors should not occur in educational institutions.
Such activity needs to be dealt with firmly, he reminded.
The directive of the government came in response to a communique from Rasatrapati Bhawan.
The VCs informed the Chancellor about the steps they have taken to curb ragging.
Bhandare also advised them to firmly deal with institutions where ragging cases occur repeatedly.
In such cases, the university may consider withdrawing affiliation of those colleges, he said.
He also reviewed the progress of the project ‘Gyanlok’ in universities.
The project was started to bring back dropout children to school, improved literacy rate among tribals, educating girls and improving the overall literacy scenarios in the state.
Taking stock of the progress of Telemedicine in the state, Bhandare directed the vice-chancellors to chalk out plan on how to implement the telemedicine.
