Bhubaneswar: The Odisha High Court on Monday granted bail to the BJP MLA from G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district Manoj Pradhan in two cases relating to murder and arson in Kandhamal district.
With this, Pradhan got bail in all 14 cases slapped against him.
Granting bail the High Court justice Indrajeet Mohanty cited that in the first FIR, Pradhan’s name was not found.
In the second FIR which was lodged after four months, Pradhan’s name was figured.
He was given the bail on a surety of Rs 20,000.
He is likely to be released from Kandhamal jail on Tuesday.
The court also observed that he should be allowed to discharge his duty as a public representative.
On behalf of Pradhan, Advocate Arabinda Mohanty was fighting the case.
Earlier, Pradhan said that he had been falsely implicated.
The charges levelled against me are fabricated and fictitious and politically motivated, he added.
